                  Just interested in 550 paracord....

                  Ray and Renee' Boyes
_ While on a canoe trip in Virginia, Ray was approached by our guide as to where he purchased his paracord bracelet.  When he shared with her that he had made the bracelet himself, she was so interested that she asked if she could purchase several bracelets to give to her friends as gifts.  This was not the first time that Ray had been approached about his unique paracord bracelets.  That weekend in 2009 encouraged us to create Lifeline Braids.  However, our bracelets and other items are not just fun to wear; they are also a survival tool.  Each of our items (except the Vietnam Service Ribbon Bracelet) can be taken apart and you can actually use the cord in a situation where you need something that has a 550 pound tensile strength.  Our military began using it in WWII and still use if today.  It is listed as number thirteen by survival specialist as a “must have” for every survival kit.  The amount of cord you would have after unbraiding the item would depend on the size that you purchase.  Easy ways of carrying your 550 paracord items are to wear it, clip it to a backpack, place it in your vehicle, home, camper/rv, boat, clip it to your cycle, or anywhere else you feel you need to store your survival tool.

Military grade 550 paracord is a Kernmantle rope known as Mil-C-5040 Type 3.  It is made of nylon so that it dries quickly and is mildew resistant.  It is 1/8 inch in diameter and is rated for 550 lbs.  As a Kernmantle rope type, its interior core (the kern) protected with a woven exterior sheath or mantle that optimizes strength, durability, and flexibility.  You can easily remove the individual 7 strands from inside the sheath and combine them into many configurations.  Listed below are just some of the purposes 550 paracord can be used for.
